I got a few caches in Salt Lake while working today, Land of The Lost Cache was a cute little micro. A lot of caches in the city are made to either be "cute," or to blend in really well. This one was a tiny dinosaur toy with a cache in its mouth, tied to a tree branch.
I also stopped by Out On The Streets, a cache hidden by Mick, a friend of mine. I have tried to find it many times but it is stolen often, in fact, someone had written "We are watching you!!!!! Be careful!" on the log and put it back... interesting!
And the third cache of the day was Cache1, I had looked for it before with some friends on the way to an event, I think it was missing that day. It was just stuck to a roadsign.
I went up the Nebo Loop again, this time with Jay and Patti, we were going to hike to "The Grotto" and first stopped so I could find Bunny Creek, it was under the bridge over the river near the trailhead.
From there we hiked up to Grotto Cache, I had never been up there but I knew it was a popular hiking spot. We saw lots of people on the trail and in the grotto, we even saw a family with a GPS and I asked if they were caching, they had just found the cache and were coming down as we were going up.
After that hike, which was about 0.75 miles round trip, we decided to go check out the new "tree top" caches up there, but on the way we stopped at Cow Pies Galore.
On we went to In the Top of the Trees #1, I had expected more of a challenge than it was, I was able to get it down from the top of the tree easily. The hard part of it was the round-a-bout way we hiked to it, and I was bit by something while walking through the woods. I also took the time to scare some kids in the woods by taking a dead tree and smacking other trees with it, they yelled "don't hurt us!" but I never did see them.
On we go to In the Top of the Trees #2, the real adventure of the night. I could tell right off which tree it was up in, and it was a nasty looking tree to climb, even if the branches hadn't been dead. But since they were it added to the excitement, listening to each one crack and want to break as I would step on it..
after that I was ready to be done for the day, but did stop for one more on the way down to get a snack at Dairy Queen, I found 8000, it was at the 8,000 feet above sea level sign.
Saw this guy at 8000 too.
