Tammy had been asking me to take her to try geocaching, today we hiked up to a few caches, we first went to Van Cott OpenSource Cache, I have been wanting to find it for a long time, it is one of the older caches in the state, being over 9 years old. We had a fun hike up to it and she seems to be hooked!

We had snacks and relaxed there for a while, enjoying the logs from the 9 years of finders and then hiked down to Juicy Fruits #1-lime, a letterbox hybrid cache in the woods... she spotted it right off with the hint.

At the bottom on the trail we found MEMORY TRAIL CACHE, it was a harder find for a new cacher so I had to help her out.

We stopped for one more on the way to drop her off at home, Between RCI and U.

And After I dropped her off I found Swimming up stream, a puzzle cache where I had to find a fish sculpture in Salt Lake, Mandee had helped me find it earlier.

Musical Highway Roadtrip!

Saturday, 24 July 2010

I went with Dick, Justin and Loralee today on a crazy road trip down to Cedar City and out to the "musical highway," a power trail of caches, every 0.10 miles along a barren highway in the desert... I got 185 finds, I think they got over 200 because of finding some of mine and some I had already found. It was a lot of fun and a LONG day.

Here are some photos and which caches they were taken at :

Tummy Time!

Thursday, 22 July 2010

On my way home tonight I decided to stop and try some caches, surprise right? I found 3 out of 5.
First was Pater Familias, hidden by my friend Jonathan. A magnetic keyholder on a green power box, nice and easy!

http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/4512a059-8b41-4fd0-b344-cf824e3851e8.jpg

From there I went to Provo to get a new cache called Tummy Time, I happened to be the first person to find it. It was near BYU campus and there were lots of college kids around at 10:30pm.

I also found Code 33, it was right outside an apartment building, near a window.. so I probably looked like a creep looking around with a flashlight... and just in case I didn't, I took a picture to seal the deal.

Katydid and the three bears

After work today I decided to go back up Diamond Fork Canyon and get two new caches that were published, the first was Katydid. A nice spot off the road, an "OPR," (obvious pile of rocks) made it a quick and easy find. I took a travel bug, One Eye Willie.

The other cache was Three Bears, another nice one. An Ammo Can under a log with about a tenth of a mile walk from Diamond Fork Campground. I took a travel bug there too, Little Red Buggy.

I hid a cache too, up near red ledges.

Charles Bird Cache

Tuesday, 20 July 2010

Not a lot of caching today, I just stopped by one. Charles Bird Cache. It is in an old Pioneer Cemetery in Spanish Fork, the area has really changed a lot. Here is a picture I took a couple years ago :

And one I took today :

It is interesting to see these small towns grow and look so different, though I guess it's good that they are remembering the past with places like this.

The cache itself was a magnetic "hide-a-key" container, stuck to the back of a sprinkler control box.

Maple Canyon

Monday, 19 July 2010

I went for a hike tonight with Patti, Jay and Dick. We hiked by many caches, I had already found them all but I don't mind that. Here are the caches we stopped at :

The Pine Tree

Jacob's Canyon

Burl E Boys

Camera Cache

It was a nice hike, I have been hiking that stretch of trail most of my life. I've never gone further though, and would really like to.

Stewart Falls

Saturday, 17 July 2010

I went out with Justin, Loralee and Jacob today to find 01*21*52 Utah County #2, on the way up to it we stopped and found B.V.'s Legacy.

When we got to 01*21*52 Utah County #2 we noticed we were not really that far from Stewart Falls, so we decided to hike there.

It was a nice hike to the falls, I stood under the water with Loralee and got nice and COLD.

On the way down the canyon we stopped and found The Scrounge Cache too. The GPS was really acting up in the deep canyon so it took a while to start looking on the correct side of the road.

We also stopped by to get a new cache, Dead End before calling it a day.
